S/Sgt. Gardner, James Kenneth. Born 15 Nov 1923 in Blue Ridge, KY. [No records could be found where his father lived in Kentucky]. This may have been Blue Ridge, Texas but there are no records of the family living there either. Son of Ruby Mae (Whittenton) and Walter Clarence Gardner Sr. Married Ida Sue Riley of Hamilton 6 Aug 1944. Graduated from Hamilton High School. Enlisted in the AAC 19 Aug 1942. Trained in NV, UT, AZ, NM and SC. Served in New Guinea. Awarded DFC, Air Medal, GCM, Unit Citation, AP Ribbon with three battle stars. Discharged 16 Oct 1945. Died 30 Aug 2007. Buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton. Brother of Sherman Lee and Gayle Winston Gardner.

Note: Walter C Gardner Sr. served in Headquarters and Hqts Co., 133rd Field Artillery, 36th Div. during WWI. He gave his birthplace as Mississippi. He married Ruby in 1917 in Hamilton, Texas. He was living in Mississippi prior to the 1910 census.

Trained in San Diego and Camp Elliot, CA. Served on USS Graylag. Transferred to USS Inaugural (AAM-242) 12 Aug 1946. Also aboard USS Chippewa Dec 1946 from USS Mackinac (AVP-13). Served in Pearl Harbor and Panama Canal Zone. Brother of James Kenneth and Gayle Winston Gardner.

Sgt. Gardner, Otho Louis. Born 25 Mar 1922 In Hamilton, TX. Son of Lilla May (Barbee) and Foster Guy Gardner. Married Bernelda Polokowski of Richester, MN. Graduated from Hamilton High School. Entered Army 1943. Trained in AR, TX and FL. Served in USA. Awarded GCM, Victory and American Defense Medals. Discharged 1946. Died 7 Mar 2004 in St. Ansgar, IA.

LT. Gardner, Gayle Winston (124357). Born 17 Dec 1920 in Hamilton, TX. Son of Ruby Mae (Whittenton) and Walter Clarence Gardner Sr. Married Ruby Lehman Sims of Woodson. Graduated from Hamilton High School. Entered NAC 1 Jul 1941. Trained in Dallas, Corpus Christi, TX and Pensacola, FL. Served in the USA. Discharged 1946. Died 26 Mar 1997. Brother of James Kenneth and Sherman Lee Gardner.

PFC. Garner, Dale Haile (38687926). Born 22 Aug 1922 in Hamilton, TX. Son of Alma Elizabeth (Haile) and Osborn Ignatia Garner. Graduated from Fairy High school. Married Ida Francis Lobstein. Entered Army 31 May 1944 at Camp Wolters. Trained at Camp Wolters, TX. Served in Europe. Died 5 Nov 2007.

Worked at Consolidated Aircraft Corp. of San Diego before enlisting. Entered AAC 31 Jul 1944. Trained in San Marcos, TX. Served in Italy. Awarded DFC, Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters, five battle stars. Wounded in Italy 1945. Died 1 May 1976. Buried at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Conway, AR. Served in Korean and Vietnam Wars. Highest rank earned, Lt. Colonel USAF.

Lt. Geron, Charles William. Born 17 Feb 1921 in Hico, Texas. Son of George Edgar and Alva Jack (Jemison) Geron. Graduated from Whitharral High School. Attend Texas Tech University. Worked for the WPA before entering service. Awards include the Distinguished Flying Cross, AP Medal with bronze star and the Air Medal. Married Mary Louise (Epley) 27 Jan 1945 in Nueces County. Retired from the Air Force Reserves as a Lt. Colonel. Died 8 May 2012 in Austin. Buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.
