Our Story

Simply, I like history and believe that it should be recorded and shared with the world.

Gary Burns

I am an author, historian, retired U.S. Marine and retired Texas Peace Officer. I also served in the U.S. Army. I grew up in Southern Indiana and Harrodsburg, Kentucky before joining the military at seventeen. I hold a BS in psychology from Excelsior College of Albany, New York, a BA in History from Eastern Kentucky University, and a MA in history from Arizona State University.  I live primarily in Belton, Texas with my wife, Dr. Patricia Burns DNP, but we maintain a second home in Eastern Kentucky. I write for several historical magazines and am working on a fourth book. My main areas of research and interest are the Great Depression and World War II. I created this site as a way to share historical information with all interested parties, free of charge.
